Final Day in Rome - National Museum, Spanish Steps, various churches

What a wonderful time we have had in Rome.  The time has passed so quickly, yet as we reflect back on all we got to see and do, it's been an amazing 4 days.  We leave in the morning for Barcelona.  Hopefully our shuttle bus will be here at 5:15. It's been a little tricky communicating on the phone, but a final word from the bus company "confrima" gave us hope that we have a confirmation for for the morning ride.  More later if we miss our plane.

Today we took the Metro southeast to the area of the National Museum, where Tom played his part and "posed" for me next to some very serious statues.  I'm not sure he got the "look" we were trying for, but he's a good sport and will generally play the part.

We visited several churches (where I had to buy a shawl to cover my shoulders....shorts ok, but no bare shoulders) and took another train to the Spanish steps, which is named for the Spanish Embassy to the Vatican. These massive marble steps lead to the entrance of yet another beautiful basilica.  The piazza was filled with tourists, vendors, and locals alike.   We enjoyed people watching and looking out over this magnificent city.
Notice the lovely shawl - God does not like bare shoulders on women!
Tom just couldn't bring himself into the confessional booth - I think too many bad childhood memories about pennance!
Beautiful courtyard entrance into "Fathers" apartment.

Arrivederci see you in Barcelona.
Ciao!
